Think on these Things!

There are times when individuals go on a quest for peace, joy, and fulfillment. According to Eastern philosophies, meditation is used as a way for individuals to detach themselves from the world and its influences. There is an emphasis on empting oneself and losing personhood and/or personal individuality. In Eastern thoughts and beliefs the goal is total detachment from the world in an effort to enter a state of nirvana. This process of empting is biblical, but after the empting there must be filling. This becomes the critical difference between Eastern meditation and a biblical view of meditation. The biblical view of mediation requires that we enter the process of detachment so, that we can attach ourselves to our heavenly Father. Philippians 4:8 instructs the believer to think on “whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Spend some time thinking on God’s promises and his love for you,Think About It!

Fear Paralyzes!

Fear has the ability to paralyze an individuals dreams and aspirations. The beginning of each year we make New Year Resolutions that are never resolved in our hearts and minds. The thought of failure or opposition easily moves the unresolved individual out of position to achieve their goals. Faith in God's promises becomes the counter weight of fear. There are times we must simply trust in the Lord!

What if I was to tell you that success does not necessarily mean you will experience fulfillment in your life. There are many individuals that are doing well financially, materialistically, socially and they are still dealing with voids in their life. Simply, they are just not happy! There are individuals that pursue careers that pay well, they experience success as we know it, but it does not bring them fulfillment. Success without fulfillment will not allow you to enjoy the experience. Fulfillment comes when individuals are attached to a higher purpose in life. We all have hopes and dreams, but somewhere along the way; we trade them in for a sure thing. The sure thing could be a pay check or endeavors with very few or no risks involved. Every dream and hope comes with risk, but the reward of fulfillment outweighs the risk, Think About It!

Do you Believe in Magic

There is a song entitled “Do you believe in magic”, by The Lovin’ Spoonful. I am afraid that many people do believe in magic, so they place all their dreams and hopes in the hands of others (magicians). Magicians are masters of creating illusions. We see what they want us to see and believe what they want us to believe. The reality is there are no easy answers or magical chants that will allow you to fulfill your purposes in life. There is one sure way to start living your dreams, simply step out on faith and know that all successful individuals have failed at some point in life, but they did not let their failures define them. Their success can be attributed to their ability and faith to get up and try it again. Think About It!

Leave a Legacy

Dr. Munroe suggests that the wealthiest place in the world is the cemetery. He arrives at this conclusion based on the fact that many people die without fulfilling their purposes and dreams. Each and every one of us has dreams and ideas that go uncared for or placed to the side, due to fear. When your children and grandchildren ask you what was your contribution to society, don’t let your response be that I was scared on taking risks. Think About It!

So much knowledge and information is available, but who will take the time to get it? Howard Gardner writes in the “Five Minds for the Future”, that successful individuals know how to synthesize information from multiple sources and put it together so that they and others can understand and apply the information to their life. This is a key skill for all of us, Think About It!

A whole new world

There is a virtual world that exists beyond my comprehension. I did not realize how large the World Wide Web has become; what are people searching for or what needs are they looking to have fulfilled in this world that human interaction cannot provide? Is this the result of better ways to effectively communicate or the result of not being able to effectively communicate? Husbands and wives stop their conversation, so that they may engage in another conversation that exists in the WWW. Think About It!
